Toppenish "pregnant" teen appears on the Today Show
NEW YORK, NY.-- The Toppenish teenager who faked being pregnant her senior year appeared on The Today Show Wednesday morning.
Gaby Rodriguez, 17, made national headlines after revealing that her baby bump was a social experiment for her senior project. For months, the girl told almost everyone she was pregnant and even faked signs of pregnancy, such as morning sickness. Only her mother, boyfriend, school principal, and a few others were in on the secret. Gaby kept a record of other students' reactions, both negative and positive.
On Today, Matt Lauer asked, "Did you get out of the project what you hoped to get out of it?" Gaby said, "Yes, because it was.. You can't please everyone all the time. So when I get people coming up to me telling me how inspired they are by my story and how courageous they think I am because I was able to be that voice for them."
Gaby's mom, boyfriend, and the Toppenish High Principal were all in New York to appear on the show Wednesday as well.
