YAKIMA, Wash. -- A new mobile unit rolled into the Yakima Sheriff's Office parking lot Wednesday.
The vehicle is so new, they have not even put any graphics on it yet.
The 25-foot plus truck will replace their smaller mobile unit which the Sheriff's Office has had for the last several years.
Sheriff Ken Irwin is excited to have the new, mobile command post and explains how it will be used, "It's for search and rescue mission, but for really any kind of emergency situation, where we need to have communications out in the field."
The vehicle is equipped with a restroom, slide out space for a meeting area and even a small kitchen. The Sheriff says having the extra space will be great, especially when people need to come inside during extreme weather conditions.
Sheriff Irwin says the vehicle was paid for with money raised by members with Search and Rescue, and with help from Yakama Nation Legends Casino.
