Kids fish for free!

Umatilla, OR-Here's a chance for your kids to wet their lines for free.

The Army Corps of Engineers and the Oregon Department of Wildlife hold a free fishing derby for kids this Saturday at the ponds at the McNary Wildlife Nature Area.

Game wardens say they will have more than 1,000 Rainbow Trout planted in time for the derby.

There will be prizes for the biggest fish caught by children in different age groups..

Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and the derby starts at 9 a.m. and goes to noon.

The derby is open to all kids 12 years old and younger.

You'll find the fishing ponds off Highway 730 just pass the McNary Dam.
