McLoughlin students raising money for cancer research
PASCO, WA- Students at McLoughlin Middle School continue to celebrate cancer survivors with a relay for life.
The student body started Friday by packing the school gymnasium for an assembly that included speakers who've beaten cancer, including young people their age.
Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Maria Bice supervises the eighth grade leadership team that organized today's events. Bice says cancer has hit home with several of her students. "One of my student's mother has been battling cancer for several years and one of the team captain's grandmother has battled cancer," Bice says. "So when it hits home it makes a bigger impact on their lives."
The students are hosting a fair on campus until 9:30 p.m. that includes games and entertainment. They hope for donations they can pass along to the American Cancer Society.
