RICHLAND, Wash.—Back in October, KNDU first told you about the Gold's Gym in Richland. After a delay, they're now ready to break ground. Everything from funding to obtaining a building permit is now finalized.
Preparation for construction has officially begun. Right now workers are watering the ground to prevent dust from flying. This process will take about two weeks, and then they will begin uprooting the soil.
Originally they had expected to break ground back in January, because they were waiting for city and state approvals, the date was pushed back. A Gold's Gym representative says they're excited to finally get started.
"Oh, it's been such a process, and we appreciate the patience of our members at both facilities and our employees. Its just so exciting that as of Monday we realized, hey we can actually get out there and start this whole process that we've been waiting for about five months now," says Jon Evans, Director of Fitness.
The Richland facility will be about 13,000 square feet bigger than the Kennewick gym. They hope to open in December, but no date has been set.
