WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Friends and family of Julio Cesar Martinez mourn his death one day after being shot and say the 20 year old always looked out for them.
Janet Lopez the mother of Martinez three year old daughter is still trying to take in the reality that the father of her child and the man she loved is dead. She knew he was a gang member, but told me he was also a good father and they are going through a mix of emotions.
"Karma's going come back. Whoever did it probably has a kid and they wouldn't like it. If their kid grew up with out a dad," said Lopez.
According to police, Martinez was with friends outside a house on the 300 block of Myrtle Street when people considered to be with a rival gang walked up to the man and his friend and started shooting.
His death is the first gang related shooting death inside the city of Walla Walla. Police haven't made any arrest and are still looking for suspects, but say they are getting good information from residents in the neighborhood.
