7-Eleven hands out free slurpees to Kennewick seniors
The 7-Eleven in Kennewick has the most slurpee machines out of any other store in the entire world, and today they offered free slurpees for graduating seniors at Kennewick High Schools. The idea came from the Slurpee King.
"In 2007 some of the high school kids were joking around late on a Friday night and they'd been to Burger King, got one of those crowns and came in and crowned me Slurpee King," Kennewick 7-Eleven owner Don Mariotto said.
With that, a kingdom flourished here in Kennewick. The store ultimately sold the most slurpees in the entire world.
"This year we wanted to honor the high school graduates," Mariotto said. "tTey've been in high school during the period we ascended to number one in the world and they were a big part of it."
To honor them, each graduating senior from a Kennewick High School walks away today with a free slurpee. A great reward from a 7-Eleven that has reached worldwide slurpee fame.
