Kennewick police investigating possible luring

KENNEWICK, Wash.--  Kennewick Police are investigating a possible luring Sunday night.  Police say around 8:30 p.m., two girls were walking on the 400 block of North Arthur Street, when a man pulled up to them and asked for help.  The girls yelled "no" and ran away.

Officers say this is suspicious because adults don't generally go to kids for help. Sgt. Ken Lattin explains, "Adults go to other adults to ask for help.  That's what's normal.  So when an adult stops in the middle of the street, motions for a young person to come over to his car and wants their assistance, that's unusual. That's not normal behavior."

Police are looking for an Asian male, in his early 30's, with short dark hair.  They say he was driving a small, boxy car with faded red paint.

Officers also say this is a good time to remind your children what to do if a stranger comes up to them.  They say these girls were a text book example, yelling "no," running away, and telling their parents and police right away.
