YVCC Baseball Looks to Continue Winning Tradition

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. --YVCC baseball is rich in NWAACC baseball tradition. They have made it to the tournament finals 27 times and won 21 championships in the process.

Sunday, the Yaks clinched a spot in the NWAACC Championship Tournament by defeating Walla Walla 5-3 in the Eastern Region Tournament Finals.

It is Yakima's first trip back to the tournament since 2000. They will compete with 7 other teams for a title.

It all begins this Thursday night in Longview when they take on Lower Columbia in the first round.

"I have a lot of respect for Yakima and the tradition that it has had in the NWAACC," said Yaks Head Coach Ken Wilson. "It was important to get back [to the tournament]."

"We just have to keep playing our game and stay focused and work hard and I think we'll do it," said 1st Team All-NWAACC Selection Trevor Dallman. "We have the team. We all have faith in each other and trust every person out on the field. That's what you have to do. We have everyone's back and we get the job done."
