Friends and family remember teen killed in fire

RICHLAND, Wash. -- There was a mix of emotions from obvious sadness to anger as people close to 16 year old Rybeca Conner tried to deal with her death.

People filled the Richland High School auditorium for the memorial service. Pictures of the Richland high sophomore were everywhere as well as things she was most remembered. For example, wearing mismatched socks which some of her friends wore in honor of her.

For several people there, it was clear she touched a lot of lives, "it's really been a hard day," says her grandmother Kris Baumgartner, who was overcome with emotions.

Friends like Nicole Chambers remember what she wanted to do with her life, "she wanted to be a kindergarten teacher and she just cared about everybody."

Conner was a member of the honor society and involved in many school activities such as the color guard. She died in a house fire on May 14th from smoke inhalation.
