Family searching for answers after suspicious death
IRRIGON, Ore.—An Irrigon family is searching for answers after a 38-year-old man was found dead in his backyard Monday Morning.
Morrow County Sheriff's Deputies believe the death of 38-year-old Wade Bonner is suspicious. They say his body was found at 141 Division Street in Irrigon, Oregon just after 5:00am.
Deputies say just before 5:00am dispatch received a call from Bonner. He said two Hispanic men were stealing his gasoline and then hung up. Deputies headed to the home and found Bonner's body.
According to the East Oregonian, they got a hold of the activity log for the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, and it states," the local major crimes team responded to a murder, gunshot wound to the head."
For now, deputies are gathering information, and some neighbors are questioning their own safety.
"It's scary. I'm scared. I don't want to live here anymore, maybe Hermiston, I don't know," says Martha Valdes, neighbor.
"We have trackers from the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office assisting us here looking for paths people may have walked in," says Morrow County Sheriff Kenneth Matlack.
Matlack says they do believe the two Hispanic males were involved, but they don't have a full description of the men. He also says an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
