Irrigon Man's Death Ruled Suicide

Posted: Updated:

IRRIGON, Ore. -- The Oregon State Police Medical Examiner says a death, originally investigated as a homicide, was actually a suicide.

38-year-old Wade Bonner was found dead on his property in Irrigon early Tuesday morning. Bonner had called 9-1-1 just before 5:00 a.m. on May 24th. He reported that two Hispanic males were stealing gas from his property. When Morrow County Sheriff's arrived at the scene, they found Bonner dead, with a gunshot wound.

Investigators found several inconsistencies between the scene and information received from friends and family.

The medical examiner confirmed that Bonner died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to head. Deputies found only one shell casing at the scene, and it appears Bonner shot himself with his own pistol over financial reasons. Investigators say there was no evidence of two Hispanics taking gas or any signs of struggle.
