YAKIMA, Wash. -- Typically, camping is pretty popular Memorial Day Weekend but because of cool weather and flooding many people are traveling to the Yakima Valley for sun.
It's what brought Scott and Karen Hibbert from Edmonds. "Because this is the sunniest part of the state at the moment and because we're interested in Washington wines," say the pair.
The travel consultant with the Yakima Valley Visitor Convention Bureau , Diane Smestad says they were extremely busy with tourists wanting to wine taste.
She says it's similar to what happened last year this time of year when it also rained everywhere else in the state.
"Hundreds, hundreds over the weekend last year and this weekend is looking to be as busy as well," says Smesdat.
The people at the bureau said at least 90 people came through just Friday.
