Memorial Day Services at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland
RICHLAND, Wash.-- Hundreds of people filled Sunset Memorial Gardens Monday for their 39th annual Memorial Day service.
Congressman Doc Hastings and State Representative Larry Haler were among the people there. Hastings was in the Army Reserves for six years and says he agrees with the old saying "freedom isn't free." He explains, "We have over 200 years of freedom and liberty and that cost isn't free. We're honoring those that have given us the opportunity to be free today."
Included in Monday's services was a wreath laying and the releasing of the doves. Also, 1,000 flags line Sunset Memorial Gardens, honoring the veterans buried there.
