YAKIMA, Wash.—Family and friends are coming together after a 15-year-old Yakima girl was killed in a car accident Sunday night near Cle Elum. The driver was the teenager's mother.
Washington State Patrol say 42-year-old Marita Davis was driving on Interstate 90 near Cle Elum when she went off the road and hit a tree. Davis's sister in-law, Rosetta Whitman, says Davis was driving home with her three children after visiting her mother.
"She started feeling dizzy and everything went blank, and she woke up to the feeling of going off the road, and then she blacked out again, and then she woke up and tried to take care of her kids," says Rosetta Whitman, Marita Davis's sister in-law.
15-year-old Brittany Davis died in the accident. 6-year-old Jayden Davis was taken to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital for abrasions and contusions. 8-year-old Kaycee Davis was taken to Harborview Medical Center with abdominal injuries. Marita Davis was taken to Kittitas Valley Community Hospital for a leg injury. All have been released except for Kaycee Davis.
The family says Brittany was a sophomore at Eisenhower High School. She had plans to open a bakery and rescue animals.
"We know we'll get through this. We'll move on and we'll always remember her," says Whitman.
