NEAR WEST RICHLAND, Wash. -- Dive rescue crews were on the Yakima River Monday afternoon after a passerby saw a submerged boat in county limits off Yakima River Drive and Grosscup Road.
Benton County Sheriffs and fire assisted as well as West Richland Police. Benton County Sergeant Jon Law says this is the third submerged boat sighting they've responded to in the last three weeks.
"As a precaution, each time we do send out our resources, and the sheriff's office, and the resources of fire and dive rescue to just confirm that it's nothing," says Law.
Law says with each boat they find, they run it's ID numbers to make sure they don't belong to any missing persons. Law says there have been no missing persons reports in our area.
