Family and friends remember couple killed in crash
CONNELL, Wash. -- Family and friends of Ciro Astudillo Rodriguez and Virginia Ocamposoriano describe them as kind loving people, committed to their community and always willing to help people.
A black ribbon hangs on the door of the grocery store the couple shared. "I feel it, I feel I could do many task. They showed me how people can be better if they wanted," says Miguel Ramirez, a family friend of the victims.
Perfect role models for the community. That's what people here remember about the couple. The two died Saturday night when the bus they were riding in crashed on I- 90 near Cle-Elum.
While they were not officially married, they were in a common law marriage for 28 years.
From Pasco, they moved to Connell. The business employed many in the community including the son of Dora Bildobinos, "She was happy all the time," explained the woman speaking in Spanish.
Happy, words the victim's daughter Laura, also used to describe her mother. She didn't want to go on camera, but said they'll be missed. Something the whole community is saying.
"I can see the people feel sad about it, they feel the family is in a bad situation, and emotional. And everybody is respectful for them," says Ramirez.
Funeral arrangements are still being made by the family. The couple leaves behind three children and three grandchildren.
