RICHLAND, Wash. -- The new police chief in Richland officially started today, and he talked about his new job.
Chris Skinner was a deputy chief for the Hillsboro, Oregon police department. He came to the Tri-Cities after an exhaustive search to replace outgoing Chief Tony Corsi.
This is Skinner's first chance at leading a police department, and he's excited, "it's really a dream come true. It's a goal that I'd had for myself for a long time as an assistant chief down in the Portland metropolitan area. It really has prepared me to take this next step."
Skinner adds police agencies in the Tri-Cites are similar to Hillsboro where communication was key. He says his first priority for the Richland department will include learning about local issues in the city and surrounding area, and getting better acquainted with other agencies.
You can meet the new chief June 10th at 1:30 PM at the Richland library.
