ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- The skeleton found near Cle Elum last September has been identified. The Kittitas County Sheriff's office says the remains belong to 22-year-old Kerry M. May (Hardy), last seen in 1972 near the Capitol Hill area of Seattle.

On September 6, 2010 female skeletal remains were discovered on the Suncadia Resort Property. Since then, the Kittitas County Sheriff's office have been working to identify them.

May was married at the time of her disappearance and her mother had reported her missing to the Seattle Police Department. Her family contacted police when they saw the composite sketch released by the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office then positively identified May's remains through a DNA match to her mother. The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
