BENTON CITY, Wash. -- Many people are asking what's going on at the Tri - City Raceway after it was purchased by the Port of Kennewick.
One group of car enthusiast say they're using it to live out their dreams. The Sand and Sage Car Club meets every month at the raceway to race their own cars on the track and test their ability to drive to the limit in a safe environment.
"We have younger people in their teens who care just getting their licenses that want to come out and learn how to improve their skills, and the we have people that are middle aged professionals people," says club president Lynn Rogers who sees people from all backgrounds participate.
Rogers says because of the age of the raceway, the speed on the cars involved in the auto racing is limited. The group has a membership, but says anybody can come by and race.
