KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Now that teens are out of school for the summer, many of them will be looking for work. But, according to data from the Labor Department, the unemployment rate for people ages 16 to 19 is more than 24%. WorkSource says with the overall unemployment rate still high, teens have more competition from adults.
To help young people, WorkSource is having a three day Summer Youth Vocational Challenge next week. Teens will learn how to write a great resume, ace an interview, and dress for success.
The Summer Youth Vocational Challenge is June 14th through the 16th at the Richland Community Center. The cost is $25; there are scholarships available. You must be between the ages of 16 and 21 to attend. To register, call 734-5978.
