Preparing for wildfire season

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-  Firefighters say the cool, wet weather we've been having can be a bad thing, because grass and weeds will grow thicker, and create more fuel for fires.

So they are reminding homeowners they can do a few things to protect their property from wildfires.

Its important to have 20 feet of well watered grass, trees or even gravel around your house to shield against flames.

Cleaning out your gutters and brushing dry leaves off your roof are also good ideas.
