KENNEWICK, Wash. -- In the 3rd third and final day of the Major League Baseball Draft, Southridge Outfielder Spencer O'Neil had his name called.

O'Neil was picked in the 33rd round with pick 1,019 by the New York Yankees. O'Neil is playing summer baseball with the Cowlitz Black Bears in the West Coast League, the same league as the Walla Walla Sweets.

But, when SWX talked to O'Neil, he says he still plans to play ball at the University of Oregon next year.

Still, he says, it is very cool to be drafted.

"I was just hanging out in my hotel room and scouts called me and said you got drafted by the Yankees," said O'Neil. "They said they are excited to have me. It's awesome to see all your hard work and everything you work for actually come together. It's great. It's an awesome feeling."
