Principal to Spend Night on School Roof to Reward Students

Posted: Updated:

TIETON, Wash.--Students at Tieton Intermediate School were challenged to read 1 million minutes this year. They reached their goal so in return Principal Greg George is spending the night on the school's roof!

Students are excited about George spending the night on the roof, but they also are proud of their accomplishment.

"A million minutes is a lot of minutes and so we tried our best, so....we made it," said Lydia Rasmussen, a 6th grader at Tieton Intermediate.

Principal George is happy to reward his students for all their hard work this year.

"Every day I walk down the hallway and kids are always, 'Mr. George are you really staying the night on the roof?' I think they didn't really believe that they could reach the goal and that I would actually spend the night on the roof," said George.

There will be a celebration Thursday evening from 6-7. It will include a BBQ as well as a showcase of various student written work from throughout the year.
