Community puts together fundraiser for family of Yakima teen killed in crash
YAKIMA, Wash. -- The family of Brittney Davis is grateful for having wonderful neighbors. 15 year old Davis was killed in a car crash Memorial Day Weekend in Cle Elum. Her brother, sister and mother survived.
Now, her family is also struggling with money. So neighbors got together and organized a yard sale, a cook out and bake sale. They managed to raise more than $1,500. All the proceeds went to help cover Brittney's funeral expenses and the family's medical bills.
Brittney's father, Daniel Davis was in tears talking to KNDO.
"It's going to really help us. The community is just amazing. I wish I knew how amazing they were before tragedy. Tragedy should not make you realize how good of people you have around you," says Davis.
He also says many of Brittney's teachers stopped by Saturday, and told him what a giant impact she had on their lives.
