Mother and children get out of fire unharmed

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.- A mother and her small children made it out of a burning house on the 600 block of South Hartford Street in Kennewick Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters say the flames started in the driveway where a freezer was being stored.

The fire caused significant damage throughout the house and almost spread to a neighbor's home.

16 year old Alejandro Farias says he's glad his mother and two younger brothers made it out unharmed, but says it's still a blow to the family.

"My dad feels like we have to start all over again, we had the house 9 years. And now we have to start all over again."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
