PASCO, Wash. -- The mullet is the haircut known as business on the top, party in the back. Two Dust Devils, infielder David Hernandez and pitcher Kyle Hancock, sport the much maligned haircut.
The two Dust Devils' Teammates said they began growing mullets in spring training when they saw Rockies Shortstp Troy Tulowitski sporting the hairdo.
Now, they call themselves the Mullet Militia and while many think the mullet should have receded into hair history in the 1980s, they are uniting around the haircut.
"Shout out to my boy Kyle Hancock who has got a mullet as well," said Hernandez. "Kyle likes to stay short on top, mine's a little longer. I like to mix it up a little bit. We also have the two lines on the side as well which gives us a little swag, we like to call it."
"I definitely think it has helped my hitting and my fielding, definitely, I have to give it to the mullet for sure," Hernandez joked.
The Dust Devils open their season friday night at Gesa Stadium, taking on Everett at 7:15.
