ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Two teenagers are dead after a car accident near Ellensburg late Wednesday night. The Kittitas County Sheriff's office says it happened on Coleman Canyon Road in an area known as "The Orchard" about 15 miles north of Ellensburg just before midnight.
A vehicle apparently rolled in steep, hilly terrain. The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office says the driver, Taylor Lanning, and passenger Colby Allemand were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were 16-year-old Ellensburg High School students.
Another passenger, 15-year-old Kassidy Gilmore, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Gilmore is listed in serious but stable condition.
The three had been camping with other teenagers, deputies say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident. The Kittitas County Sheriff's office says it's one of the worst tragedies they've ever seen.
