YAKIMA, Wash.--Several YPD divisions came together over the course of the 2 day prostitution sting.
It took place on and around N. 1st. St., an area that police say is frequented by prostitutes and what they call, "Johns." A total of 22 suspects were arrested.. 14 of them women, 8 were men. Suspects were booked and taken to jail or cited and released by officers.
Business owners in the area say they are more than aware of the problem but are relieved to see clean-up efforts underway.
"They're cleaning up the motel right across the street. I've seen them pull over and grab people....They're doing their job, they're doing a good job," said Rafael Alfaro, a man who works in the area.
Other business owners said the same thing, that they are happy to see YPD taking an active roll in cleaning up the area but that they hope the changes will continue.
