Vigil Held to Remember Teens Killed in Car Crash

Posted: Updated:

KITTITAS, Wash.--Friends, family, and members of the community held a vigil Friday night in memory of the 2 teenagers who died in Wednesday's car accident in Kittitas.

Taylor Lanning and Colby Allemand, both 16, were killed in the accident. Kassidy Gillmore, 15,  remains at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but friends who have visited her tell us that her condition is improving.
Kittitas County Sheriff's say that the students were camping in Cooke Canyon and had been drinking before the accident.

However friends who were there with the teens before the crash tell a much different story.

They say that although alcohol was present, none of victims were drinking.

"It's a tragedy, there's nothing we could have done to prevent it. it was all high school drama, end of the year drama that caused it. Alcohol didn't cause the crash," said Willie Yager, a friend of the victims who was also camping that night. "It was driving to fast on a gravel road. And it was just one little mistake, and it ended like that."

The community continues to be devastated by the accident but is rallying together to provide support to all those affected by it.
Friends of both of the victims say they were deeply loved in the community and will be greatly missed.
