Local fireworks laws

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.—Many will soon be celebrating the 4th of July, but before you get started, do you know the fireworks rules for your area?

Starting Tuesday fireworks sales will begin.  However, fireworks are not allowed in all areas of Tri-Cities and Yakima.

Pasco, Kennewick, Prosser and Yakima do not allow fireworks of any kind.

Richland, Benton City, unincorporated parts of Benton County and Walla Walla allow what officials call "safe and sane" fireworks.  "Safe and Sane" include fireworks that stay on the ground.

Fireworks celebrations will be held throughout the area.  A few are Kennewick's River of Fire Festival Display at Columbia Park, Pasco's Grand Ole Fourth Celebration at Gesa Stadium, and the Yakima Firework Shore at the State Fair Park.
