For the first time in more than a decade, the Franklin County Primary is canceled because not enough people entered.
There wasn't a single race where three or more people filed and stayed in it, which is required in this case. But, the Franklin County Auditor says a primary can only be canceled when no partisan races are on the ballot, and it's during an odd year election.
He also says this is very unusual. It's been 14 years since a primary was canceled, but internally, it will give them a chance to focus more on reviewing the voting process.
Primaries begin in August, but the candidates in Franklin County will go head to head during the November general election instead.
