KENNEWICK, WA-Families in White Swan who lost their homes in a large fire this winter are getting help from families in the Tri-Cities.
Members of the Church of Latter-day Saints in Kennewick Thursday emptied a large storage garage filled with donations for the fire victims.
Richard Wright says the church has been collecting furniture and other items the families would need once they could move into their new homes.
"I was amazed at the generosity of the church members," Wright says. "As followers of Christ, I think they really want to help somebody that's in need. We have a lot of refrigerators, bedding, beds, a lot of small household items like pots and pans. I think it will fill a great need there in White Swan."
About a dozen families, about 300 people, lost their homes in the fire last February.
