The Humane Society has tips for pet owners this holiday weekend
YAKIMA, Wash. -- As fun as those fireworks will be this weekend, pet owners should be aware of some safety tips. The Humane Society of Central Washington said try not to bring your pets with you. The loud noise can scare them enough to run away.
The Humane Society gets plenty of missing pet reports this time of year, and if you lose yours, go there in person. It is easier to point out your pet. "What they might be describing and what we actually see may be a little bit off, so we try to have people come on down, take a look if you do have a pet that runs away, not only 4th of July time, but any time," said Alan Landvoy, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Central Washington.
Another idea is play some music to drown out the noise. It is easy if you are having a party anyway. Just remember if you add fireworks to the party, keep the pets away and indoors.
