Call center announces more layoffs and closure

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. -- This place has seen a lot of changes starting with the announcement of 40 job cuts in June.

Beginning September 2nd, the remaining 100 employees will be out of a job. The announcement came yesterday to the workers. West corporation handles contract business for a variety of financial and communication corporations.

Despite the news, word of layoffs and closures appears to be common, "I mean I think this is not an unusual circumstance. We find this could happen in many communities. The development and the operations of the business is dependent maybe on a single third party," says Carl Adrian, president and CEo of Tridec.

Management at West Corporation explain the closure is because of lower call volume for their client, an unnamed financial service.

The company will shift their work load to other call centers.  The closest location is in Spokane. Management says employees will be given help looking for other jobs.
