KENNEWICK, Wash.—Three Kennewick families are without homes after their apartment units went up in flames.
Benton County firefighters say Sunday morning they responded to the Woodland Park Apartments on the 600 block of South Kent Street. Firefighters say two units are completely destroyed and one has severe smoke damage. No one was injured.
"When we got here one of the first things we did was verify that it was evacuated. Everybody had gotten out on their own. No one was in the residence when we got here," says Deputy Chief Marvin Leonard, Benton County Fire Department.
The families are now being helped by the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
