Honest Abe gives speech in Kennewick

Posted: Updated:

"Four score and seven years ago"...

Most of us know those words came from the Gettysburg Address spoken by Abraham Lincoln.

On Monday. Honest Abe was in town to recite the famous speech to a crowd of people at the Manor at Canyon Lakes Retirement Community in Kennewick.

Keith Deaton has been impersonating President Lincoln for 25 years, but says it never gets old.

"I try to tailor it to the particular audience," Deaton said. "A month ago I was doing it for POWs, so I talked about prison camps during the Civil War, so I change it to the particular group that I'm delivering to."

He adds it's an honor to play one of the nation's greatest presidents, especially on the 4th of July.
