Friends Become Rivals in Conference Finals: Tri-Cities Fever

Despite not playing one game against each other this season, the Tri-Cities Fever and Allen Wranglers are quite familiar with each other, heading into Saturday's conference finals.  Tri-Cities head coach, Adam Shackleford, coached alongside Allen's head coach Chris Mackeown, from 2002 thru 2005.   In 2008 the two coached against each other in the AF 2 conference finals.

The two talk at least once every week, and coach Shack gives a lot of credit to the man who gave him his start in Arena football.   Shack said, "A lot of the things I do philosophically and the way I handle the team... A lot of the things I do is what I learned from him. He's going to be the best X's and O's coach we are going to see all year. We always talk about how our families are doing, we always talk about the league and how we think... Things need to improve here and there. And you know a friendship that I really hold dear to my heart. He's helped me a lot along the way to get to where I am."
