NACHES, Wash. -- A brush fire broke out around 1 a.m. in Naches Tuesday morning. The blaze happened in the hills near Eschbach Park. Yakima dispatch sent out a mutual aid response to fire departments from all over. Aside from Naches Heights, there were firefighters from Highland, West Valley and Yakima. Though it was not a large fire, firefighters say it was tough to access because of the area.
"Probably 4 to 5 acres, but it was all hillside and inaccessible except for hiking up and down, so it was a little bit of work," said Chief Chris O'Dell of the Naches Heights Fire Department.
O'Dell thinks fireworks caused the fire, but an investigation is pending. No orchards or properties were damaged, so there was no monetary loss.
