One Sweets pitcher is taking command on the hill. Spokane native Ryan Richardson, in his second season with Walla Walla, has the third lowest ERA in the East division amongst qualified leaders.
Richardson's success stems from his ability to find the strike zone. Walking just four batters in 27 plus innings of work, without one wild pitch or hit batsman.
Richardson said, "Me and my brother used to draw... We had a brick wall in our backyard.. .And we used to draw a square on it with a bunch of different spots on it and we used to try to hit it those spots... And have a games. And now it brings in the game with a catcher... That catcher puts the glove up there and it's my spot to hit. I don't worry about hitter. It's just me and the catcher, and the defense behind me."
