Protect your dog during summer months

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash.—If you're not careful overheating can actually kill your pet.

Local veterinarians say every once in a while they treat animals after they've become hypothermic especially during the summer months.  This can happen after leaving a dog in the car for too long, walking the animal when it's too warm outside, and not giving it enough water.

One vet says if you dog has thick fur, make sure you get it cut to give him a thinner coat for the warmer months.
