Lillard's Success Puts Fever in Title Game

Posted: Updated:

Kennewick, WA---  Last night the Tri-Citie Fever became Intense Conference Champions in the IFL, defeating Allen 67-46.  The win setting the stage for an IFL Title game showdown at Sioux Falls.

The man guiding the team into this championship, Quarterback Houston Lillard.  Whose the only player to play under current head coach Adam Shackleford, since he took over the team two years ago.  Lillard in two seasons has emerged from a back up role, to the starter, to an IFL MVP candidate this year.  He's now just one win away from a title.

Shackleford said, "He's the pillar of this organization, and I'm not sure I could have said that a year and a half ago about Houston Lillard. I'm not sure he was capable of handling that pressure. He's matured on the field and off the field in every sense of the word more than any other athlete I've been around in two years."

Lillard added, "He trusts me in my ability to run the offense and be him on the field, and I trust him. You know... I trust that he is going to put me in the best position to be successful. And mainly us having respect and trust in each other is a big key."
