More information on Pasco teacher who died in car crash in Mexico

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. --  32 year old David Ruiz was a very private man, but loved by many. fellow teachers and friends  shared photographs of the 3rd grade bilingual teacher at Mark Twain Elementary.

Ruiz has taught at that school for almost seven years.   He's a WSU Pullman graduate, and he grew up in Brewster, Washington.

He lived in Pasco with his father, Cruz Ruiz and will be buried in Los Angeles Friday, where most of his family is from.  Friends tell me Ruiz was in San Ysidro, Mexico when the wreck happened.  They say he goes to Mexico every year to visit friends and family.

David Ruiz also took salsa lessons at  Salsa Con Rumba for the last year.  His co-workers and salsa friends are raising money to help friends and family here get to LA on short notice.

Counselors will be at Mark Twain Elementary on Thursday from 9:00am-11:00am to help the students and staff get through this difficult time.
