YAKIMA, Wash. -- A suspicious device was found in Yakima last night. The Yakima Training Center sent a disposal unit similar to a bomb squad to the 300 block of Lonesome Pine Road. The unit and a county Sheriff's Deputy say the device was a set of fireworks in an abandoned mailbox.
Though it was not a bomb some neighbors still are not happy about what they found. "We're hoping to get more sheriffs patrolling our area out here, and to know that people are disposing of things that could possibly cause fire, especially in a dry time of the year, it's scary," Michelle Schmidt said.
After figuring out that fireworks were in the mailbox, the disposal unit threw them out. The Sheriff's office says it is always a good idea to call law enforcement if you find anything that looks suspicious or dangerous.
