YAKIMA, Wash. - Local law enforcement including the DEA arrested 19 people Thursday morning for reportedly growing marijuana in area vineyards.
Operation Green Jam was led by the Law Enforcement Against Drugs Task Force. The three year investigation targeted a drug trafficking organization within the Yakima Valley. The 19 suspects were arrested in Washington, Oregon and California.
The suspects face numerous charges, including manufacturing and distributing marijuana and money laundering.
DEA detectives say the suspects purchased and leased grape vineyards in the Yakima County area since 2004.
Those involved will be forced to forfeit more than $3.4 million in assets. @
