3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Raises Money for Local Foundation
The city of Richland and the Andrew Reyes foundation held its first ever 3 on 3 basketball tournament at Columbia Marina Park today. 45 teams in five different divisions competed from 9am to about 6pm tonight, with more than 500 people in attendance.
Tourney organizer Andrew Reyes, a 2000 Olympian, put on this event to help raise money for the city of Richland and give one lucky athlete scholarship money for college. The giving does not stop there. He also raises money throughout the year to help disadvantaged youth.
Reyes said, "Being born in West Africa and seeing poverty... Traveling around the world from Australia... Going to Europe... Being in London... Amsterdam... Also as well as Germany... Being around the world and parts of the United States as well... There's a lot of poverty and disadvantage kids and I want to give back to the community in that sense."
The 3 on 3 basketball tournament extends to tomorrow, where they hope to raise more than 2000 dollars.
