Yakima, WA---

The Yakima Bears lost to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 5-2 Saturday night at Yakima County Stadium. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Bears.

The Bears took the initial lead in the third earning with a two-run triple from Raul Navarro, which scored Danny Pulfer and Westley Moss.

That 2-0 lead was taken while Bears starting pitcher Alex Capual was retiring the first 11 batters he faced, including three strikeouts in the third inning. Capaul would yield a run in the fifth, but left after five innings with his team in front 2-1.

The Bears extended the lead to 3-1 in the sixth inning with a lead-off single from Zach Jones, who stole second and scored on a double from Kerry Jenkins. That would be the end of the scoring for the Bears, while the Volcanoes were just heating up.

After a scoreless sixth inning pitched by John Pedrotty, he allowed three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth, as the Volcanoes scored the final four runs of the game. Only two of the runs allowed by Pedrotty in his three innings of work were earned, but he took the loss to fall to 0-2 on the season. Miles Reagan faced only three batters in a scoreless ninth to finish the game for the Bears.

The offense managed seven hits, including doubles from Jenkins and Carter Bell and the triple by Navarro. With a 2-for-4 night, Navarro was the only Bears batter to finish with a multi-hit game.

The two teams conclude the five-game series Sunday at Yakima County Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 5:35. Two right-handed pitchers are expected to start, with Randy Hamrick getting the call for the Bears and Lorenzo Mendoza penciled in for the Volcanoes.
