Coast Guard Auxiliary encourages boat safety with inspections
YAKIMA, Wash. -- The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will be at Rimrock Lake next month for boat inspections. On August 6th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Auxiliary will have plenty of inspectors on hand. They are teaming with the Yakima Valley Boat Club to promote boating safety.
"The water is a fun place, a friendly place, but it can be unfriendly if you get caught up and you're really not prepared. Life jackets is probably the single most important thing, that you've got some sort of floating device."
Boaters will get a USCGA Safety Compliance Decal if they meet Coast Guard regulations. If they do not pass, the inspectors will point out what needs to be changed. After getting an inspection, boating enthusiasts can check out the sail boat rocket races, which are named after former YVBC Commodore Bill Rocket.
