YAKIMA, Wash.-- Student enrollment at Perry Technical Institute in Yakima has gone up over the last 5 years.
According to President Christine Cote it's increased 55% over that time. The school has been forced to adapt and grow to keep up with student demands, but they say they're happy to do so.
Additional programs and parking have been added. They say the rise is attributed to the bad economy.
"Typically when the economy is down we have more students come in to retrain," said Cote.
Female enrollment at Perry has also risen. From 6% to about 18% of the student body in the last 5 years. And while tuition has gone up just over $800 this year, they don't expect to see a drop in enrollment.
