Semi truck tips over on Hwy. 395; nearly crushes another driver
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Imagine you are driving, about to get on the blue bridge when a semi truck starts to tip over in your direction. That exact scenario happened to a Kennewick man Thursday morning.
Washington State Patrol Troopers say the truck driver was going too fast when he merged onto Highway 395, northbound off Highway 240. The driver of a pickup just barely got out of the way before the semi and the 45,000 pounds it was hauling came crashing down.
Oscar Garcia, with the Washington State Patrol said, "he moved as far as he could to the right side avoiding what could have been a tragedy. If the semi truck had landed on top of him it would have been a terrible thing."
Troopers say there were scrapes and tire marks on the top of the semi, meaning the driver of the pickup avoided being crushed by just inches.
